Holiday Reading.

Every year my wife and I go on a cruise. She is a sun worshipper, I am a reader. So we wake in the morning and after a breakfast of cold meats, cheese and fruit we go our separate ways.(not like the Willie Nelson song) just for the middle of the day.
She to fry herself in the sun, me to read in a quiet shaded spot. I have grown old. Once those holidays for me would have been walking in the mountains, fishing for wild brown trout in shady fast flowing streams but now I just sit in the shade and read. I do not mind. A good book is as important to me as the rivers and mountains. So I have chosen three to take with me. A healthy variety. One, a Stephen King novel "Revival" that I missed along the way. I have read most of his books.
Two. Something a little more literary. I have taken "The Theban plays" by Sophocles. Oedipus Rex, Oedipus at Colonus and Antigone and lastly as my usual "challenging myself on holiday" idea I have taken "The Dark Forest" by Cixin Liu. I love a little Chinese philosophy coupled with Hard sci-fi. Hard work but I'll take it.
I will let you know how they go when I get back.
I think I will love them.

What’s New With Raymond Walker

Mid May 2025 will see the release of "The Pale Shadow" . An unusual ghost story. Raymond wishes this to be a quiet release as it follows the story of an earlier (deleted) book that he wished to improve.

"The Dark Kind" will follow before the end of this year (2025) a completely new novel and an ending to all of the river tales.  It will be hearalded, Proclaimed and advertised as both the publishers and public are awaiting a conclusion to "The dead girl and the wandering tree".  After that will come "Sad Green Eyes" around may 2026. Then...who knows.
