I was asked; What is it about Ayn Rand's writing style in "Atlas Shrugged" that turns people off, even if they might agree with her ideas?

“Atlas Shrugged” was not easy to read, she seemed an American James Joyce in style and Joyce does not “welcome you in” with his style. I enjoyed the book, even recommended it to others (all of whom thought it tedious and trite) due to the content. I found it a sad declamation of Jack London's, “The Iron Heel” but brighter by comparison.

I do not mind if a book is difficult to read, in fact I rather enjoy the challenge but for me even the philosophy behind the novel was peculiarly American, and not in the way Tom Wolfe can be which is fascinating and marvelous. Declamatory, is the word I would use. I still think it an excellent novel, Vonnegut on a bad day but I seem to be one of the few.

What’s New With Raymond Walker

Mid May 2025 will see the release of "The Pale Shadow" . An unusual ghost story. Raymond wishes this to be a quiet release as it follows the story of an earlier (deleted) book that he wished to improve.

"The Dark Kind" will follow before the end of this year (2025) a completely new novel and an ending to all of the river tales.  It will be hearalded, Proclaimed and advertised as both the publishers and public are awaiting a conclusion to "The dead girl and the wandering tree".  After that will come "Sad Green Eyes" around may 2026. Then...who knows.
