It seems now, like, when dinosaurs stalked the Earth, but it was only twenty odd years ago that I started to use Amazon to sell my self-published books.

"CreateSpace" was such a useful platform that I bought into it completely. Made it my "publishing" home. At one point I turned down a publishing deal in favour of my preferred platform. A worthwhile medium.
Sadly, CreateSpace made little money for Amazon who expect you to sell your books for free. Some authors spend years authoring a novel, putting heart and soul into it. Sell it free says Amazon. One of my novels took almost four years to write. For those many hundred hours of work Amazon decided it could be read for free despite the fact I said NO. Advertised it widely at 0.00 on Kindle unlimited and ripped off my years of writing to the benefit of Amazon. You can understand that. Amazon hardly breaks even. Well, apart from the millions (billions) they make in profit.
It's a shame they are ripping us off. Exploiting those that were their original customers. The original ethos was great. I read loads and my local bookstores do not sell the books I want to read. It was the place for me. Sadly, all that Amazon was, has turned to shit. I am tied to them for the next six months with no escape. They get the money for all my sales. Yep, I will get pennies for every book sold but hey Amazon will be worth many more billions. Cool Huh, Gotta love it.
