The best short stories told on a dark and stormy night

I recently produced an article for Shepherd.com about the best collections of short tales (in my humble opinion) ever written and those that affected me most both when writing and reading. In these collections of short tales, I found both inspiration and wonder. All those mentioned here have influenced my writing and indeed my reading as I have endeavored over the years to find other writers as good. On Occasion I have but sadly have had to miss out those others as I was only allowed to add five collections of tales.

These were the ones most important to me.

Shepherd.com were nice enough to add a link to my "Moonchild and Other Tales" in the introduction and a little about me. The article, however, is very much about the books I have included in it rather than my own humble contribution.

But here is my own contribution. An excellent collection of short tales to amaze and surprise.

What’s New With Raymond Walker

Mid May 2025 will see the release of "The Pale Shadow" . An unusual ghost story. Raymond wishes this to be a quiet release as it follows the story of an earlier (deleted) book that he wished to improve.

"The Dark Kind" will follow before the end of this year (2025) a completely new novel and an ending to all of the river tales.  It will be hearalded, Proclaimed and advertised as both the publishers and public are awaiting a conclusion to "The dead girl and the wandering tree".  After that will come "Sad Green Eyes" around may 2026. Then...who knows.
