What Sci-Fi book have you thought would have made a fantastic movie or series

Updated: Nov 29, 2024

There Have been too many Sci-fi novels that I would have loved to see adapted to mention in a short answer to this question. Science fiction (silly sci-fi, Star Wars, Dune) can be popular. Hard Sci-fi and clever concepts rarely work for a mass TV or Film audience. Luckily, there is the odd gem of a low budget film that really works. “The Artifice Girl”, Ex-Machina and we had the first big budget TV sci-fi series last year. “The Three Body Problem”. Things are improving. Hopefully, they will continue to.
So, just to name a few, “Matter” by Ian M Banks, “The Player of Games” by the same author. “Hyperion” and “Endymion” by Dan Simmons, also “Olympos” if you really wished to go out there. Lol- I think it would work as a Game of Thrones/ Terminator crossover. I would still like to see “Foundation” done correctly (not turned into a cheap Star Wars thing). Eon. Ancestral Machines, Ringworld oh and I could go on and on and bore everyone.
One I wished to give special mention to, however, was Gregory Benford's pre-foundation novel. “Foundations Fear” as I think that would work from both an intellectual and Sci-fi viewpoint without costing too much. I don't think that I have really answered your question, but I have tried to with my simple thoughts. I hope you do not mind.
I thought of answering this before I offended some fans. The full question was....

What Sci-Fi book have you thought would have made a fantastic movie or series, but the studios would not touch it because the average Sci-Fi movie fan wants garbage where there are sounds in space and cute little droids?

What’s New With Raymond Walker

Mid May 2025 will see the release of "The Pale Shadow" . An unusual ghost story. Raymond wishes this to be a quiet release as it follows the story of an earlier (deleted) book that he wished to improve.

"The Dark Kind" will follow before the end of this year (2025) a completely new novel and an ending to all of the river tales.  It will be hearalded, Proclaimed and advertised as both the publishers and public are awaiting a conclusion to "The dead girl and the wandering tree".  After that will come "Sad Green Eyes" around may 2026. Then...who knows.
