An article I read online today caught my attention.
"Modigliani" is a 2004 drama biographical film written and directed by Mick Davis and starring Andy García, Elsa Zylberstein, Omid Djalili, Hippolyte Girardot, Eva Herzigova and Udo Kier. It is based on the life of the Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani."
I have never heard of the film and have certainly not seen it.
This caught my attention not for the normal things. The Painting I found a tad, "seeking attention rather than cool". If you see what I mean. Not to say the artist was terrible but rather that my appreciation of it is flawed.
It was the cast list that caught my attention. Omid (the first of the eastern races to face Athens). Djalili, Then Hippolyte (Queen of the Amazons -who almost overthrew Athens, remember- the wooden wall. She Married Theseus.) Eva was (Cynuria) (who was mother to the earth and renamed) as Athena, which Athens is named after. and most strangely "Udo" a Germanic name translated into Greek is "Io" We know her better now as one of the major moons of Jupiter but once "Io" was the lover of Zues (the mother of Perseus) whose daughter was, of course, Athena.
Now this particular film's cast were not brought together because of their names. but it is a wonderful coincidence.
I enjoyed that coincidence even if probably no one on earth other than me did.
I was going to attach a copy of the painting, but it would cost me £699.00 to do so and so instead you get a picture of Eva Herzegova. No dreadful thing for any red-blooded male who is so inclined.
